Description
Daybed was a standard piece of furniture in a scholar's study during Ming-Qing dynasty. A scholar might lie down and rest on his daybed, sit with a companion on it, or merely use it as a surface on which to place books or other favored objects. Daybed is more frequently seen and used as long large table. This antique daybed is hand crafted in elegant Ming style with simple and straight lines. The intricate "relief" carvings of traditional Chinese auspicious design decorate both sides of the daybed. The daybed is handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. Can be used as large coffee table, or bench. (also can be used as outdoor furniture in covered patios) Circa early 19th century. Original patina and wear. Made from core of Elm wood with beautiful wood grain, the daybed is very solid and has been kept in excellent condition.Size: W82.5" x D14.75" x H19"
