    Description

    Offered is a pair of antique folding horseshoe armchairs (regarded as a symbol of status).
    Made of Northern Elm (Yuma). With recent woven seat. Origin was Shanxi (northern China). Circa 1850-1870.
    Each: 21.625" (w) x 19.75" (d) x 34.5" (h). Folds flat at about 12".
    Both chairs have signed Certificate of Antiquity (see pics). From The Red Cabinet (H.K.), Shop No. 5, 1-13 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong. 3/10/2006.
    The chairs are in very fine condition. Structurally sound. Except for seat, no previous restoration detected. Paint shows wear consistent with age and use. Shaped seat supports are made of a diamond pattern woven hemp. Chairs are decorated with brass appliques and middle ornament in brass colored paint.
